Pray With Us

We put ourselves in the presence of God as we listen to some music.

Leader:     Giver of Life, giver of nights & days, giver of

this moment now, open our lips

All:        that we may speak truthfully.

Leader:     Open our hearts

All:        that we may love wholeheartedly.

Leader:     Open our whole being

All:        that we may act courageously – acting in the name of the Father, Son & Spirit.

Please sing the hymn ’Seek ye first’.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness,

And all these things shall be added unto you; Allelu,Alleluia!

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek & you shall find;

Knock & it shall be opened unto you; Allelu, Alleluia!

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Please listen to or join in the refrain of Psalm 61

(Light in Our Darkness)

In God alone is my soul at rest; He alone is my rock, my strength;

In God alone is my soul at rest; He alone is my rock, he is my strength.

      And to the Holy Spirit,

      World without end, Amen.

Let his face shed its light upon us.

Reading:    1 Peter 5 5b-7

Wrap yourselves in humility to be servants of each other,

because God refuses the proud and will always favour the

humble.  Bow down, then, before the power of God now, and he

will raise you up on the appointed day; unload all your worries

onto him, since he is looking after you.

Silent or shared spoken reflection ad lib

After saying the antiphon together we will hear a setting of

the Magnificat – (S. the Ps 5) – please join in if you wish.

All:        Show the power of your arm Lord; put down the proud and exalt the lowly.

Refrain:            My soul rejoices in God my Saviour; my

spirit finds its joy in God, the living God.

My soul proclaims your mighty deeds.
My spirit sings the greatness of your name.

Your mercy flows throughout the land
and ev’ry generation knows your love.

You cast the mighty from their thrones
and raise the poor and lowly to new life.

You fill the hungry with good things.
With empty hands you send the rich away.

Just as you promised Abraham,
you come to free your people, Israel.
