We were delighted to welcome Dr Cormac Begadon to deliver the Foundation Day Lecture 2021 at New Hall.  Cormac is Assistant Professor (Research): Sepulchrine Fellow in the History of Catholicism at University of Durham and is researching the Community’s archive.

Dr James Kelly, Sweeting Associate Professor (Research) in the History of Catholicism, University of Durham, managed questions from the audience both live and online.

The lecture took place on the eve of the Community’s 379th anniversary of Foundation. Community, friends and representatives from the school gathered to listen as Cormac revealed the outcomes of his research and evidence of the Canonesses’ role in Enlightenment Europe, as radical and innovative educators.

It was a great occasion to meet old friends and new – with thanks to the school for their hospitality and to Cormac and James for a very interesting evening.  You can see a recording of the talk, introduced by S. Moira, below.
