Pray With Us

Opening music: Volutes d’ete Tr. 1.

Leader:        Let us be silent…… let us be still …….empty …… in the

presence………. being silent …………. being still….. let us pray

All:          In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.  Alleluia.

Please sing the hymn ’Christ be beside me’.

Christ be beside me, Christ be before me,

Christ be behind me, King of my heart,

Christ be within me, Christ be below me,

Christ be above me, never to part.

Christ on my right hand, Christ on my left hand,

Christ all around me, shield in the strife.

Christ in my sleeping, Christ in my sitting,

Christ in my rising, light of my life.

Christ be in all hearts, thinking about me,

Christ be in all tongues, telling of me,

Christ be the vision in eyes that see me,

In ears that hear me, Christ ever be.

Please listen to the first part of Psalm 26 being read after saying the antiphon together.

All:   The Lord is my light & my help, whom shall I fear?

Reader:        God is my light & my salvation, whom shall I fear?  God is the

strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?  In God alone

do I put my trust, how then can others harm me?

All:          In times of disquiet & trouble, I will trust you.

Reader:        When the wicked, even my enemies, come upon me to devour

me, they stumble & fall back.  When a mighty army is laid

against me, my heart will not be afraid.  When war rises up

against me, I shall put my trust in God.

All:          In times of disquiet & trouble, I will trust you.

Reader:        One thing I have desired of God that I shall seek after, even

that I may dwell in the house of my God all the days of my

life, to feast my eyes on the beauty of my Creator, to

ponder deeply the gracious will of my God.

All:          In times of disquiet & trouble, I will trust you.

Reader:        In the time of my trouble, you will hide me in your shelter; in

the shadow of your tent, you will conceal me from those who

pursue me; high on a pinnacle of rock you will place me safe

from those who surge around me.

All:          In times of disquiet & trouble, I will trust you.

Reader:        Therefore I shall offer in your dwelling place gifts with

great gladness: I shall sing & praise your name.

All:          In times of disquiet & trouble, I will trust you.

All:  Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as

it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.

All:          The Lord is my light & my help, whom shall I fear?

Please sing the second part of the psalm as indicated.

Cantors: It is your face, O Lord, that I seek;

    Hide not your face.

Side 1:         O Lord, hear my voice when I call, have mercy & answer.

Of you my heart has spoken: seek his face.

Side 2:     It is your face, O Lord, that I seek; hide not your face

Dismiss not your servant in anger; you have been my help.

Side 1:         Do not abandon or forsake me, O God, my help!

Though father & mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.

Side 2:     Instruct me, Lord, in your way; on an even path lead me,

When they lie in ambush protect me from my enemy’s greed.

Side 1:         False witnesses rise against me,

Breathing out fury.

Side 2:     I am sure I shall see the Lord’s goodness

In the land of the living.

Side 1:         Hope in him, hold firm & take heart.

                   Hope in the Lord.

All:  Glory be to the Father and to the Son,

      And to the Holy Spirit,

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,

      World without end, Amen.

All:          It is your face, O Lord, that I seek;

Hide not your face.

Reading:       James 1. 22 & 25.

You must do what the Word tells you, and not just listen to it, and

deceive yourselves.  But anyone who looks steadily at the perfect law of

freedom and keeps to it – not listening & forgetting, but putting it into

practice – will be blessed in every undertaking.

Silent Reflection.

Please stand to say the Magnificat.

All:    The Almighty has done great things for me; holy is his name.

Side 1:         My being proclaims your greatness, and my spirit finds joy in you, God my Saviour, for you have looked upon me, your servant, in my lowliness; all ages to come shall call me blessed.

Side 2:     God, you who are mighty, have done great things for me: holy is your name. Your mercy is from age to age towards those who fear you.

Side 1:         You have shown might with your arm and confused the proud in their inmost thoughts. You have deposed the mighty from their thrones and raised the lowly to high places. The hungry you have given every good thing while the rich you have sent away empty.

Side 2:     You have upheld Israel, your servant, ever mindful of your mercy, even as you promised our ancestors;

promised Abraham, Sarah, and their descendants for ever.

All:                 Give praise to the Father Almighty, to his Son

Jesus Christ our Lord, to the Spirit who dwells in

our hearts both now and for ever, Amen.

All:      The Almighty has done great things for me; holy is his name.

Leader begins the Our Father….

Leader:     Lord, support us as we pray, protect us day & night, so that we who under your guiding hand live in a world of change, may draw strength from you, with whom there is no shadow of alteration. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.

All:          Amen.

Leader:     May God’s goodness be ours.  Well, seven times well, may we spend our lives.  May each of us be an island in the sea, a star in the dark, a staff to the weak.

All:        May the love Christ Jesus gave fill each of our hearts & may we be blessed by the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. Amen

We will conclude our time of prayer together by listening to

‘Let your beauty shine in me, Lord.’ Awakening in Love’ CD Tr 3.
