Pray With Us

Leader:    The Lord is my light & my salvation:

All:       My God shall be a light in my darkness.

Leader:    The light & peace of Jesus Christ be with you.

All:       And also with you.

Please join in the refrain of the hymn

(Take this Moment CD Tr. 5.)

Return to God with all your heart, the source of grace and mercy;

Come, seek the tender faithfulness of God.

Please sing the psalm and its antiphon as indicated:

Cantors:          Sing to us one of the songs of Sion, Alleluia!

Cantors:  By the rivers of Babylon,

                We sat and wept, remembering Sion.

All:       On the poplars of that land

           We hung up our harps;

Cantors:  There the captors asked of us our songs,

                And urged us to be joyous:

All:       ‘Sing for us’ they said,

‘One of the songs of Sion’,

Cantors:  How could we sing a song of the Lord

                While in a foreign land?

All:        If I forget you, Jerusalem,

            May my right hand forget its skill!

Cantors:    May my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth

                If I ever forget you,

All:        If I do not consider Jerusalem

My greatest joy.

All:  Glory be to the Father and to the Son

     And to the Holy Spirit

     As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,

     World without end, Amen.

All:          Sing to us one of the songs of Sion,

    Alleluia!

Please say the second psalm as indicated.

All: In the midst of affliction, you have given me life, alleluia!

Cantors:    I will give thanks to you, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I will sing your praise.

All:        I will bow down towards your holy temple and

            praise your name because of your love and faithfulness.

Cantors:    For you have glorified your name and your word above all  things.

All:        When I called you answered me;

you increased my strength within me.

Cantors:    All the kings of the earth will praise you, O Lord,

                  when they have heard the words of your mouth.

All:        They will sing of the ways of the Lord, that

             great is the glory of the Lord.

Cantors:    Though the Lord be high, he cares for the lowly; he perceives the haughty from afar.

All:        Though I walk in the midst of trouble,

        you keep me safe.

Cantors:    You stretch forth your hand against the fury of my

                  enemies, your right hand shall save me.

All:        O Lord, your love endures forever; do not

            abandon the work of your hands.

All:   Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the

       Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, is now and ever

       shall be, world without end, Amen.

All:        In the midst of affliction, you have given me life, alleluia!

Reading:    1 Peter 2 4&5

He is the living stone, rejected by the world, but chosen by God and precious.  Set yourselves close to God, so that you too, the holy priesthood that offers the spiritual sacrifices which Jesus Christ has made acceptable to God, may be the living stones making the spiritual house.
