Pray With Us

Music will be played as we prepare for prayer together.

Leader: O God, come to our aid.

All:       O Lord, make haste to help us.  Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen. Alleluia!

Incense is lit & we sit.

Silently or aloud, as the week begins, we may like to place before the

Lord any particular thing that we have planned during the week – or

that you know is taking place – & ask for our prayer & God’s blessing.

Let us stand & join in with the hymn.

(REFRAIN) O Lord, you are the centre of my life,

I will always praise you, I will always serve you,

I will always keep you in my heart.

Keep me safe, O Lord, I take refuge in you,

I say to the Lord, ‘You are my God.

My happiness lies in you alone; (2)

REFRAIN

You will show me the path of life,

The fullness of joy in your presence,

At your right hand, at your right hand,

Happiness for ever.

REFRAIN

Please sit & listen to the psalm 109 being read after saying the Antiphon.

All:               Christ the Lord is a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.  Alleluia!

Reader:        The Lord said to my Lord: ‘Sit at my right hand, till I make

your enemies your footstool.’ The sceptre of your power

the Lord will stretch forth from Sion: ‘Rule in the midst of

your enemies. Yours is the princely power in the day of your

birth, In holy splendour before the daystar, like the dew, I

have begotten you.’ The Lord has sworn and he will not

repent; ‘You are a priest forever, according to the order of

Melchizedek.’

All:                Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.

All:                Christ the Lord is a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.  Alleluia!

Please sing the second psalm as indicated.

Cantors:        Our God is in Heaven;

He has power to do whatever he will, alleluia!

Cantors:        Not to us, Lord, not to us,

But to your name give the glory.

All:               For the sake of your loving mercy and truth,

                     Lest the nations say: ‘Where is now their God?’

Cantors:       As for our God, he is in the heavens;

He does whatever he pleases.

All:              Their idols are silver and gold,

                    The work of human hands.

Cantors:      They have mouths, but cannot speak;

Eyes they have but cannot see.

All:              They have ears, but cannot hear,

                    Noses have they, but cannot smell.

Cantors:      They have hands, but cannot feel, feet but cannot walk,

Not a whisper do they make from their throats.

All:              Those who make them shall become like them

                    And so will all who put their trust in them.

Cantors:      But you Israel, put your trust in the Lord,

He is their help and their shield.

All:              You that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord;

                    He is their help and their shield.

Cantors:      The Lord has been mindful of us, and he will bless us,

May he bless the house of Israel and the house of Aaron.

All:              May he bless those who fear the Lord,

                    Both small and great together.

Cantors:      May the Lord increase you more and more,

You and your children after you.

All:              May you be blest by the Lord,

                    The maker of Heaven and earth.

Cantors:      The heavens are the heavens of the Lord,

But the earth he has entrusted to his children.

All:              The dead do not praise the Lord,

                    Nor those gone down into silence.

Cantors:      But we will bless the Lord,

From this time forth for evermore.

All:             Glory be to the Father and to the Son,

                   And to the Holy Spirit;

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,

                   World without end, Amen.

All:             Our God is in Heaven;

                   He has power to do whatever he will, alleluia!

Reading:       2 Thess 2: 13-14

We feel that we must be continually thanking God for you, sisters and brothers whom the Lord loves, because God chose you from the beginning to be saved by the sanctifying Spirit and by faith in the truth.  Through the Good News that he brought, he called you to this so that you should share the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Silent reflection.

Please stand & sing the Magnificat after the Cantors, as indicated.

Cantors:

Wk 2:    There was a wedding at Cana in Galilee,

And Jesus was there with Mary his mother.

Wk 10:   A great prophet has risen up among us

And God has come to visit his people.

Wk 18:   If you wish to be truly rich, my brothers & sisters,

Then seek true riches.

Wk 26:  My son, remember that you received good things during your life,

Just as Lazarus received bad things.

Side 1:  My being proclaims your greatness,

And my spirit finds joy in you, God my Saviour;

Side 2: For you have looked upon me, your servant, in my lowliness:

             All ages to come shall call me blessed.

Side 1:  God, you who are mighty, have done great things for me:

Holy is your name.

Side 2:      Your mercy is from age to age

Towards those who fear you.

Side 1:      You have shown might with your arm,

And confused the proud in their inmost thoughts.

Side 2:     You have deposed the mighty from their thrones,

                 And raised the lowly to high places.

Side 1:     The hungry you have given every good thing,

While the rich you have sent away empty.

Side 2:    You have upheld Israel, your servant,

                Ever mindful of your mercy-

Side 1:     Even as you promised our ancestors,

Promised Abraham, Sarah, and their descendants for ever.

All:          Give praise to the Father Almighty,

                To his Son Jesus Christ our Lord,

                To the Spirit who dwells in our hearts,

                Both now and for ever, Amen.

Repeat antiphon as above.
