Pray With Us

Leader:  Rejoicing with Angela & humble in your sight, O God, we come together.

All:        You grant us the blessing of your presence amongst us.

Leader:  Our hearts are yours – we give them to you.

All:        Purify our love to make it like your own.

Please join in with the hymn:

Come Holy Ghost, come to our hearts,

Send upon us from on high the light your wisdom gives.

Come, Father, come, giver of gifts,

Fill your poor with heavenly light to make their hearts grow glad.

True friends of ours, guest of our soul,

Strengthening us in time of trial & bringing cool repose.

Deep peace in toil, breeze in the heat,

Giving us the strength to work, & calming all our grief.

Cleanse minds defiled; water our souls,

Making arid deserts bloom & healing every wound.

Bend stiff-necked pride, warm what is chill,

Guide on paths that lead to you the steps that go astray.

Give faithful friends, trusting in you,

Gifts of wisdom, prudence, power the fullness of your grace.

Crown virtue’s work, sweeten our death,

Let us gaze upon your face with joy that shall not end.

Please listen to the psalm 109 after saying the antiphon together.

for her life of faithfulness & commitment. We pray for her

family & for her many friends & all her contacts asking for

God’s blessing on each one of them.

Reader:  We pray for people who have died today & those who will die tonight. We also remember in prayer those whose anniversaries occur tomorrow, remembering especially:

Pause for people to add silently or aloud any further intentions.

Leader begins the Our Father….

Leader:  Grant, Almighty God, that with our thoughts on the things of the Spirit we may please you in all that we do & say. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.

All:         Amen.

Leader:  May God make the new day ahead of us a happy one. Not by shielding us from all sorrow & pain, but by strengthening us to bear it, as it comes; not by making our path easy, but by making us sturdy to travel any path; not by taking hardship from us but by taking fear from our hearts; not by granting us unbroken sunshine, but by keeping our faces bright, even in the shadows; not by making our lives always pleasant, but by showing us when people & their causes need us most, & by making us willing to be there to help. All this we pray for ourselves & for Angela in particular.

All:        Amen.

Leader:  Let us listen to a sung blessing asking for that blessing on all our faith community particularly those praying this evening prayer with us.

Deep Peace. (Libera Peace Tr 5)

Novena to the Holy Spirit – Day 3

The Coming of the Spirit

With the power of the green leaf
unfolding to spring-time sunshine,
unfold our souls to the radiance of Your light.

With the power of the life of God
made incarnate in the womb of Mary,
make in the depths of our souls
a place where the life of God can be planted.

With the power of wisdom,
of understanding
and the knowledge of God,
fill our souls with awe in the presence of God.

With the power of counsel and of might,
Empower our words and our actions
that we may be prophets for our age:

With the power that holds all creation in being,
hold our lives in the safety of Your wings:
With the power that shook the disciples out of their fear and complacency,
shake our lives free of our fears, our doubts and our uncertainties:

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created
and You will renew the face of the earth – come, Holy Spirit!
