Is it right to continue hoping despite Gaza… perhaps there comes a time for despair?
On Wednesday 3rd June David Neuhaus SJ joined us on Zoom from Jerusalem. We are deeply grateful to him for sharing his reflections on the topic of ‘hope’ in the midst of the Israel/Gaza conflict. In his talk, ‘Must We Still Hope?’, he confronted the difficult question of whether it is right to continue hoping in the face of the suffering in Gaza — and whether there are moments when despair seems inevitable.
David’s talk was clear, insightful, and deeply grounded in personal experience. He reminded us that “the Resurrection is our very identity as Christians; we are called to preach hope when hope seems impossible.”
You can listen to the talk below.
You will find some recommended reading in his PowerPoint and details of David’s own book, scheduled for general release over the summer, here
