HYMN

“This is my will, my one command,
That love should dwell among you all.
This is my will, that you should love
As I have shown that I love you.

“No greater love can any have
Than that one die to save one’s friends.
You are my friends if you obey
What I command that you should do.

“You chose not me, but I chose you,
That you should go and bear much fruit.
I chose you out that you in me
Should bear much fruit that will abide.

Reading:    from this coming Sunday’s Gospel     John 13: 31-35

My children, I will be with you only a little while longer.
I give you a new commandment: love one another.
As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.
This is how all will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another.”

Pause to reflect on the Gospel reading.

Cantors     The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep,       Alleluia!

Side 1:      My being proclaims your greatness,

And my spirit finds joy in you, God my Saviour;

Side 2:    For you have looked upon me, your servant, in my lowliness:

All ages to come shall call me blessed.

Side 1:      God, you who are mighty, have done great things for me:

Holy is your name.

Side 2:    Your mercy is from age to age

Towards those who fear you.

Side 1:      You have shown might with your arm,

And confused the proud in their inmost thoughts.

Side 2:    You have deposed the mighty from their thrones,

And raised the lowly to high places.

Side 1:      The hungry you have given every good thing,

While the rich you have sent away empty.

Side 2:    You have upheld Israel, your servant,

Ever mindful of your mercy-

Side 1:      Even as you promised our ancestors,

Promised Abraham, Sarah, and their descendants for ever.

All:              Give praise to the Father Almighty,

To his Son Jesus Christ our Lord;

To the Spirit who dwells in our hearts,

Both now and for ever, Amen.

All:        The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep,

            Alleluia!

Intercessions:

Reader:     Jesus always had time for those who needed him.  Let us pray for those known to us who have particular need to know of God’s presence in their lives at this time …………..(mention can be made by anyone of people, places & situations)

Reader:     We pray for people who have died today & for those who will die tonight.  We also remember in prayer those whose anniversaries occur tomorrow, remembering especially:

Pause for people to add silently or aloud any further intentions.

Leader begins the Our Father.

Leader:     Day by day, wherever life takes us. all the way home …… as we have been loved we must love others.  So we dedicate ourselves to our living and loving God

All:        Amen.

Leader:     How beautiful is the blossom spilling from the tree, the hidden primrose & the bluebell telling of God’s love for all creation.  Christ is risen, he is alive, we shall live for evermore.  The dark winter is past, the slow, cold, foggy days are over.  May the warmth of your resurrection touch our hearts & minds as the warmth of the sun blesses our bodies, and may Almighty God bless us – the Father, Son and Holy Spirit

 All:       Amen.
