FEBRUARY 25TH 2020
Wednesday will be the first day of Lent – let us prepare prayerfully to use this time to open our eyes to the gift of this world and all its treasures and find ways of protecting it from human greed and destruction. That we can look for ways not to waste our resources and to find new ways of sharing.
A prayer for Shrove Tuesday
On this Shrove Tuesday, Lord help us to enjoy and give thanks to you for the bounty you provide for us and remind us to share your gifts with others. And as Lent begins tomorrow, prepare our hearts and minds to reflect upon the temptation of Jesus for 40 days and nights and what that means for us. Amen
Serves 2 – 4 people, dependent on the size of your pancakes.
- cup of milk
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 egg
- It doesn’t matter on the size of the cup as long as you use the same cup to measure both ingredients
- Heat up a frying pan with a little oil
- Measure out your ingredients and whisk them together in a bowl to create your batter
- Pour or spoon some of the mixture into the pan.
TIP: When bubbles start to appear on top of the pancake, it should be cooked on the underside and be ready to flip over.
Thought while making
We sift in some flour, regrets from the past, laying to rest what we no longer need.
And we add a touch of salt, vital for flavour: provocative sharpness of God’s truth.
We take an egg, symbol of new life, anticipating God-inspired possibilities
